Our semesters enroll three times a year. The lengths of the programs are 5 & 6 semesters (18-24 months), each semester is fifteen weeks in length (excluding the spring semester due to summer break). Classes are held for approximately 12 hours per week for the Massage Therapy Associate of Applied Science program and approximately 10 hours per week for the Massage Therapy - Level One Diploma program. Academics
Online/ Distance Education Program

OCM Online’s Distance Education program is a separate entity from OCM and was designed for students unable to attend campus due to schedules or locations.  This program allows for the enrollment and study with an educational institution which provides lesson materials for individual student learning.  Presented in sequential and logical order, the instruction is offered wholly or primarily by distance education, through electronic media.  It may also make use of video tapes, audio recordings, facsimiles, telephone communication, and the Internet through e-mail, and Web-based delivery system.  The Ohio College of Massotherapy’s online program utilizes various learning modes in the distance education programs.  It is complete with live lectures, instant e-mail, and two-way audio. The online courses are rich in technical content with a high level of interactivity using effective multimedia elements.  They are developed with strict academic and enlightening thoroughness to address different cognitive styles and provide genuine educational value to the students.  The synchronous, that is real time, learning mode coupled with the Internet’s streaming multimedia and interactivity,  will deliver the multimedia content to create a learning environment that enables rewarding interchange between the student and teacher.

Students will use our online “Blackboard” website site to log-in for a unique learning experience from the comfort of their own homes or satellite locations via the Internet.

Some “on campus” hours are required for all online students.  Due to the nature of the degree in which you are pursuing some “hands-on” study is conducted at the college for online massage I and II classes.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will receive a Massage Therapy Associate of Applied Science Distance Education Degree. Students are then eligible to apply for the Massage Licensing Examination administered by the State Medical Board of Ohio located in Columbus, Ohio.

For application forms to the online program please see the admissions tab and select the “Online Application Packet”.

OCM requires each student to have a will to learn and the determination to succeed.  To accomplish this we require each student to have completed a high school diploma or GED and be in good medical condition to meet the physical demands of a career in massage.

To be able to take the state medical board exam students will need to meet the State Medical Board requirements which are listed in the “Students” tab under “Graduates and Alumni”.

College Testimonials

"On behalf of all the Cleveland Browns players, coaches, athletic trainers and administrators, I want to send my sincere thanks to the Ohio College of Massotherapy for all their help during the 2008 training camp. Training camp is brutal on the body and the medical massage provided by the students not only reduced the player's soreness, improved recovery, increased their readiness for practice, and enhanced their awareness of massage. Many of the guys now use massage habitually because of the work done by the students of the Ohio College of Massotherapy. Thanks again and we look forward to working with you in some capacity in the future." -Alan DeGennaro- Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

"When I first decided I wanted to be a Massotherapist, I looked at every school in and out of the state of Ohio. OCM was the only school I found with a passing rate for boards ABOVE seventy percent. My classes are small enough that I can get one on one attention, yet large enough to allow debate and discussion. My teacher's enthusiasm for what they teach make learning difficult material so much easier. I feel confident that I have been given the knowledge and ability to become a GREAT therapist."- -Mary McIntosh, 2008 Graduate
